For leg spider veins, some patients have received Sclerotherapy. This mode of therapy has been very effective in the past but can cause hyperpigmentation or pigment discoloration from six weeks to twenty-four months. Also, this mode of therapy can be painful and uncomfortable postoperatively, requiring specific care.

Botox is an extremely effective treatment for facial wrinkles in the forehead, between the eyes and in the "crows feet" areas.  Botulinum toxin, or Botox works by weakening the muscles of facial expression.  Once the resting tone of the treated muscles is weakened, the pull of the muscles relaxes and the overlying skin flattens.  Botox has been used safely in the treatment of muscular facial spasms for approximately 15 years.


Restylane is hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring sugar found in our skin.  It comes in the form of gel which is injected through a needle into different areas of the skin.  Restylane has a different use than Botox in restoring a youthful appearance.  While Botox is effective on improving specific lines, Restylane is best used to fill contours such as the nasolabial folds, corners of the mouth, scars, and provide additional fullness to the lips.
